BRUSSELS, May 26 (Reuters) - France said on Monday the latest proposals for a world trade liberalisation deal were neither balanced nor ambitious, but the EU's trade chief said he had overwhelming support to pursue the talks.
Anne-Marie Idrac, France's junior trade minister, told a news conference the compromise texts put forward by senior trade diplomats in the World Trade Organisation last week were "less ambitious and balanced than ever".
But Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson said after briefing EU foreign ministers on the plans: "The overwhelming majority of member states are in favour of remaining engaged and taking forward the negotiation... The view expressed that the conditions do not exist for the round to be concluded successfully was a very small minority view." SAN ANTONIO, May 25 (Reuters) - The San Antonio Spurs trounced the Los Angeles Lakers 103-84 in Game Three of the Western Conference finals on Sunday, the NBA champions reducing their series deficit to 2-1 with a solid home display.
Guard Manu Ginobili raised his game to pace the Spurs with 30 points, hitting nine-of-15 shots, including five-of-seven from three-point range.
The Argentine had only averaged 8.5 points during the first two games of the best-of-seven series, shooting a combined five-of-21 from the floor.
San Antonio held a nine-point advantage early in the final quarter before reeling off 10 consecutive points to take an insurmountable 79-60 lead with nine minutes remaining.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in scoring with 30 points, hitting 13-of-23 shots from the floor but going to the free-throw line only once.
San Antonio lost the first two games of the series in Los Angeles, including a 101-71 thumping in Game Two at the Staples Center on Friday. Game Four is in San Antonio on Tuesday with the winners of the series advancing to face either the Boston Celtics or Detroit Pistons in the NBA Finals. BUENOS AIRES, May 25 (Reuters) - Estudiantes lost the outright leadership of the Argentine championship when they conceded a late goal and were held 1-1 by Independiente on Sunday.
River Plate pulled level with Estudiantes on 34 points from 16 games after beating Huracan 1-0 on Saturday with a second-half goal from Diego Buonanotte.
With three games each to play, River lead on goal difference although that statistic is academic as there is a play off if two teams finish the championship level on points at the top.
Midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron gave Estudiantes the lead in the 50th minute when he converted a penalty for a foul on Diego Galvan before Independiente's German Denis equalised in the 86th minute with his ninth goal of the championship.
Midfielder Aureliano Torres, who missed in the penalty shootout when San Lorenzo were knocked out of the Libertadores Cup by Ecuadorean champions LDU on Thursday, scored twice to help beat Colon 2-1 and to stay in touch with the leaders.
Ruben Ramirez headed Colon in front in the eighth minute before Torres replied with a long-range drive six minutes before halftime.
The Paraguayan international put Thursday's trauma behind him when he stepped up to convert a penalty four minutes after halftime following a foul on Juan Menseguez.
San Lorenzo are three points behind the leading pair.
Boca Juniors dropped to fourth, one point behind San Lorenzo, when they were held 1-1 at Velez Sarsfield.
Damian Escudero fired Velez ahead with a left-foot shot in the 54th minute and Lucas Viatri salvaged a point for Boca when he headed in from a corner in the 86th minute.
