XRP Blows Through $1.43 to $1.62 With Exchange Supply at a 7-Year Low
Seven US spot ETFs have absorbed just $1.49 billion since launch while escrow releases 200–400M tokens | That's TradingNEWS
Key Points
- XRP trades $1.51, up 56% in a week but still 58.9% below its $3.65 cycle high from July 2025.
- Spot XRP ETFs hold nearly a billion tokens on $1.49B of inflows — just 1.6% of a $94.98B market cap.
- A close above $1.62 targets $1.90; a break of $1.43 opens the volume gap toward $1.22.
XRP (XRP-USD) is trading at $1.51, up 0.97% on the session, with a market capitalization of $94.98 billion against a circulating supply of 62.74 billion tokens. The 24-hour range has run from $1.43 to $1.62, a $0.19 swing representing 12.6% of the price in a single day.
The weekly number is the one that matters. XRP surged more than 56% across the past week — the sharpest weekly move since the post-settlement rally of August 2025 — after spending most of the summer grinding inside a $0.90 to $1.10 band. Twenty-four-hour trading volume has run between $4.52 billion and $9.30 billion depending on the venue, against turnover that had thinned to a fraction of that during July.
Context keeps the euphoria contained. XRP set its cycle high at $3.65 on July 17, 2025. At $1.51 the token trades roughly 58.9% below that peak. It started 2026 at $1.85, rallied to $2.41 in the first week of January, and that January print remains the highest level it has reached all year. By early February it had fallen to $1.11. From mid-February through mid-May it consolidated between $1.27 and $1.67, then broke down again in late May toward $1.05.
Seven months of lower highs, one week of violent recovery. That is the shape of this chart.
The macro trigger sits outside crypto entirely. The Treasury doubled its long-dated bond buyback operations from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation, the dollar index fell to 98.723 — its lowest since May 14 — and every debasement-sensitive asset repriced simultaneously. Bitcoin blew through $78,766 for a 22% week. Ethereum ripped 28% to $2,504. Gold reached $4,645.90.
XRP outperformed all three on a percentage basis, which tells you the move was leveraged rather than allocated. The Fear & Greed reading now sits at 68 — Greed — after weekly RSI printed 31 and oversold just days earlier.
Whether $1.51 is a floor or a ceiling depends on a Senate vote three weeks out.
From $0.99 to $1.62 in Five Sessions: Reconstructing the Squeeze
The sequence matters because it determines what has to happen next for the level to hold.
XRP was trading near $1.02 in the middle of last week, sitting below its 20-day EMA at $1.0572, with a session low of $0.9906 that buyers defended within hours. Daily trading volume had collapsed to around $430 million — roughly half the $900 million recorded three sessions earlier and the thinnest reading of the entire decline.
That combination — new lows on collapsing volume — described an absent bid rather than aggressive selling. The move lower had been cheap to achieve, which meant it could reverse just as cheaply if buyers returned.
They returned on August 19 and 20. XRP found support at $0.99 and posted a 15.59% single-day advance to $1.15, with resistance identified at $1.23. The catalyst was the same one that lifted the entire complex: the Treasury buyback announcement, followed by the White House crypto meeting where the administration pressed the Senate on the Clarity Act.
From there the move accelerated. XRP cleared $1.23, then $1.43, reaching $1.62 at the high. Across the full week the gain exceeded 56%, taking the token from the low end of a seven-month range to its highest level since May.
Two mechanisms drove it: short liquidations across the broader crypto complex, and renewed ETF inflows into XRP products that had been dormant for weeks. Bitcoin's breakout above $77,000 supplied the risk appetite that made both possible.
The distinction that matters for the forecast: none of those three drivers is XRP-specific. Short covering is finite and largely spent. Bitcoin's move is the same one lifting Ethereum, Solana and every leveraged crypto equity. The ETF flow reactivation is real but small in absolute terms.
A 56% week built entirely on borrowed momentum requires something native to sustain it. That something has a date attached.
Seven ETFs, a Billion Tokens and Only $1.49 Billion of Inflows
The institutional infrastructure around XRP is complete. The demand flowing through it is not.
Seven US spot XRP ETFs have launched, beginning with the first product on September 18, 2025. Collectively they hold nearly a billion XRP. Cumulative net inflows since launch total roughly $1.49 billion.
Set that against the comparable numbers elsewhere in the complex. Bitcoin spot ETFs have absorbed $53.40 billion cumulatively with total net assets above $90 billion. Ethereum spot products have taken $12.2 billion with assets approaching $14.3 billion, representing 4.85% of the token's market capitalization. XRP's $1.49 billion against a $94.98 billion market cap works out to roughly 1.6% — a third of Ethereum's penetration and a fraction of Bitcoin's.
Nearly a year of trading across seven regulated vehicles has produced institutional ownership equal to about one and a half percent of the float.
The recent flow prints show the scale problem clearly. XRP funds added $13 million on August 20 — the single largest day of the entire crypto rally, on a session when Bitcoin products took $606.29 million and Ethereum products $220.8 million. On August 18, XRP ETFs recorded $5.81 million, described as their strongest single-day performance since July 31. Across a full month, XRP products added $27.29 million.
Thirteen million dollars into a $95 billion asset does not move price. It confirms interest without supplying demand.
The bull framing is that the vehicles exist, the regulatory path cleared in August 2025, and the capacity to absorb institutional allocation is built and waiting. That is genuinely true and it is the precondition for any meaningful re-rating.
The bear framing is that a year has passed and the capital has not arrived. Building the pipe is not the same as filling it, and XRP's 2026 has been a demonstration of that distinction.
July's Blackout: Zero Flow on 10 of 17 Trading Days
The clearest evidence of institutional indifference sits in the July flow record, and it is worth stating precisely.
XRP ETF flows registered exactly $0.00 on 10 of the 17 trading days in July. Not small. Not negative. Zero. That included two separate three-day blackouts, with the latest running from July 22 through July 24 straight into month end.
Turnover thinned alongside it. Daily value traded across the ETF complex fell from $14.05 million on July 1 to $8.80 million on July 24 — a 37% decline across three and a half weeks.
The on-chain data confirmed the same withdrawal of conviction from a different angle. The XRP exchange net position change, which tracks tokens moving in and out of exchanges, sat at -205.1 million XRP on July 3. By July 26 it had shrunk to -70.2 million, a 66% collapse. Coins were still leaving exchanges, but at roughly a third of the earlier pace.
Sustained outflows normally signal accumulation. A drop that steep suggests buyers stepping aside rather than turning into sellers. Neither institutions nor spot participants were dumping XRP. Neither group was adding with conviction either.
That backdrop is what makes the August move so mechanically explosive and so fragile. A market where nobody was positioned, volume had halved, and the ETF desks were dark is a market where a small amount of forced buying produces an outsized price response. Fifty-six percent in a week from a base of near-total apathy is the signature of thin liquidity, not of demand.
The forecast implication is direct. For $1.51 to hold, the ETF prints have to stay meaningfully positive — not $13 million days, but sustained flow measured in tens of millions. A return to the July pattern of zeros would remove the only incremental buyer XRP has and leave the token dependent entirely on Bitcoin's direction.
The Escrow Problem: 200 to 400 Million Tokens a Month
The structural headwind under XRP is the one that never appears in the price-target tables, and it operates every single month regardless of sentiment.
Net escrow releases run between 200 and 400 million tokens per month. At that pace, circulating supply grows from 62.74 billion today toward somewhere between 73 and 84 billion by the end of 2030 — a midpoint near 78 billion and dilution of roughly 25%.
That changes the arithmetic behind every long-dated target. A $3.00 XRP in 2030 is not a $188 billion market capitalization on today's supply. It is a $234 billion market capitalization on 2030 supply. Any forecast that does not use the diluted figure is understating the market value required to reach it by a quarter.
Applied to the current setup, the mechanics are unforgiving. At 300 million tokens released per month against a $1.51 price, roughly $453 million of new supply reaches the market every thirty days. XRP ETFs have absorbed $1.49 billion in total across nearly a year — which means the escrow schedule releases more value in a quarter than the entire institutional complex has absorbed since launch.
That single comparison explains 2026 better than any narrative. It is why XRP won its lawsuit, gained seven ETFs, secured banking approvals and still fell for seven straight months. The demand side was building infrastructure while the supply side was running on a schedule.
Total supply stands at 99.99 billion against a 100 billion maximum, with 62.7% currently circulating. The remaining 37 billion tokens are the overhang, and their release is programmatic rather than discretionary.
For a forecast horizon measured in weeks, escrow is background noise. For anything measured in quarters, it is the dominant variable, and it is the reason the demand catalyst has to be large rather than merely positive.
Exchange Supply at a Seven-Year Low — the Counterweight
Against the dilution argument sits a genuine bull data point, and it deserves equal weight.
XRP exchange supply has fallen to a seven-year low. The tokens available for immediate sale on centralised venues are at their thinnest level since 2019, which means the escrow releases have not been landing on exchange order books — they have been moving into custody, treasuries and long-term holdings.
That structural tightening is what produced the violence of the August move. When the readily sellable float is at a multi-year low and forced buying arrives, price gaps rather than grinds. A 15.59% single day and a 56% week are what that configuration produces.
Corporate treasury demand has contributed. An XRP-focused vehicle raised $1 billion via SPAC in October 2025 to build what was described as the largest XRP treasury, and the seven ETFs collectively hold close to a billion tokens off the liquid market.
The honest caveat is the same one that applies to every supply-lock argument in crypto. Tokens held in custody or treasury are not permanently unavailable. They shrink the inventory immediately accessible to traders rather than eliminating it, and a determined holder can move coins onto an exchange within hours. What these figures measure is friction, not lockup.
But friction cuts both directions, and it explains the asymmetry in this chart. A market with a seven-year-low float moves 56% in a week on modest buying. It can also move 20% lower in three sessions on modest selling, because there is no depth on either side of the book.
The practical read: exchange supply supports the case that a genuine demand shock would produce a disproportionate price response. It does nothing to guarantee that the demand shock arrives.
XRP Won Everything and Fell Anyway: the 2026 Paradox
The most instructive thing about this asset is the gap between its news flow and its price, and 2026 has been the clearest demonstration of it on record.
The list of wins is substantial. The SEC case formally closed in August 2025 when the court approved the dismissal, removing the regulatory uncertainty that had defined the token for four years. Seven US spot ETFs launched. Ripple secured conditional approval for a national trust bank. The company raised capital at a $50 billion valuation and spent roughly $4 billion on acquisitions. The 2026 roadmap pivoted toward institutional DeFi.
XRP traded at $1.85 entering the year, rallied to $2.41 in the first week of January, and spent the following seven months falling. By August 1 it sat at $1.06, down roughly 70% from the $3.65 cycle high.
Every catalyst a token could want, delivered, followed by a 43% decline.
The explanation is the supply-demand arithmetic above. Ripple's corporate progress is real and it builds long-term optionality. It does not create a buyer for the 300 million tokens released each month. Institutional adoption of the XRP Ledger for cross-border settlement generates transaction demand measured in fractions of a cent per transfer — the network recorded roughly $17,821 in fees across a 24-hour period, against a $94.98 billion market capitalization.
That disconnect between utility volume and token valuation is the structural challenge no amount of corporate news resolves.
The forecast consequence is that news-driven rallies in XRP have a short half-life unless they attach to a flow mechanism. August 2025's settlement rally produced a 23% surge to $3.38 and gave it all back by December. January's rally to $2.41 lasted a week.
This week's 56% move needs to be different, and only one thing on the calendar can make it so.

$8 Billion Versus $1.49 Billion — What September 15 Actually Unlocks
Here is the single number that justifies holding XRP at $1.51 rather than fading it.
Passage of the Clarity Act is estimated to unlock approximately $8 billion in XRP ETF inflows, against the $1.49 billion accumulated to date. That is a 5.4x expansion of institutional ownership, arriving into an asset with exchange supply at a seven-year low.
Run the mechanics. At current prices, $8 billion buys roughly 5.3 billion XRP — about 8.4% of circulating supply. Against a float where the immediately sellable inventory is at multi-year lows, that is not an incremental bid. It is a repricing event.
That is the one plausible path to closing the gap between XRP's infrastructure and its price, and it explains why the legislative calendar matters more for this token than for almost any other asset.
The vote arithmetic is the problem. Cloture is scheduled for September 15 at 2:15 p.m. with a 60-vote threshold. Republicans hold 53 seats, requiring at least seven Democratic crossovers. The bill passed the House 294 to 134 in July 2025 with 78 Democrats supporting, and the Senate Banking Committee advanced it 15 to 9 in May 2026 — then it stalled on the floor over ethics language rather than over market structure.
Prediction market odds of passage in 2026 have collapsed from 82% in February to roughly 25%. Independent research assessments run lower still.
The fallback is agency rulemaking. Regulators have signalled they would move more aggressively through the rules process if the legislative path closes, and a joint classification issued in March 2026 already named XRP among sixteen digital commodities outside securities law. That provides a floor under the thesis, but it is a slower and reversible version of it.
Three weeks. One vote. Roughly 25% implied odds. That is the trade.
Ripple's Corporate Build: a Trust Bank, $4 Billion of Deals, a $50 Billion Valuation
The company behind the token has been executing, and the medium-term case rests on whether that execution eventually reaches the asset.
Ripple secured conditional approval for a national trust bank — a charter that would let it hold reserves and provide custody under federal supervision rather than through a patchwork of state licences. It raised capital at a $50 billion valuation and deployed roughly $4 billion on acquisitions. The 2026 roadmap centres on institutional DeFi rather than on retail payments.
That direction is strategically coherent. Cross-border settlement generates transaction volume but almost no fee capture at the token level. Institutional DeFi — tokenized collateral, on-chain treasury management, regulated lending against digital assets — creates balance-sheet demand for the asset rather than throughput demand.
The distinction matters enormously for valuation. A network moving $100 billion in cross-border payments annually at fractions of a cent per transaction does not require a large token market capitalization. A network where institutions hold XRP as reserve collateral does.
The XRP Ledger has continued expanding usage through the price decline, which is the healthiest possible divergence — infrastructure growth decoupled from speculation. What it has not done is translate into sustained price appreciation, and that failure has now run for seven consecutive months.
The corporate progress also carries a subtle risk. Ripple's $50 billion private valuation and its $4 billion acquisition programme are funded partly by the escrow releases that dilute holders. The company's balance sheet strength and the token's supply overhang are the same mechanism viewed from opposite sides.
For the forecast, treat the corporate build as optionality rather than as a near-term driver. It supports the case that $1.51 is not a terminal price. It does nothing to explain why the token should trade at $1.90 within a quarter.
$1.62, $1.43 and $1.22: Mapping the Levels
The technical structure resolved decisively during the squeeze and the levels are unusually clean.
Immediate resistance is $1.62, the 24-hour high, sitting 7.3% above spot. That is the first genuine test of whether the breakout can extend. Above it, the next reference is $1.67 — the top of the February-to-May consolidation range — and then $1.72, which marks the upper bound of most published 2026 ranges. Beyond that, $1.90 becomes the target that a flow-driven repricing would deliver.
Beneath spot, $1.43 is the immediate floor, 5.3% down and the low of the current 24-hour range. Below that, $1.27 marks the base of the old consolidation band. The critical structural level is $1.22 — the resistance identified during the initial breakout that should now function as support on any retracement, 19.2% beneath current price.
The gap between $1.43 and $1.22 is the problem. XRP traversed that entire zone in roughly two sessions during the August 19-to-21 explosion. Fast moves higher leave thin volume profiles, and thin volume profiles offer no support on the way back down. That air pocket is 15% wide.
Beneath $1.22, the reference points are $1.01 and $0.99 — the levels buyers defended repeatedly through the summer and where the 20-day EMA sat at $1.0572 before the move.
The asymmetry is stark. From $1.51, the distance to the first upside target at $1.62 is 7.3%. The distance to the last genuine support at $1.22 is 19.2% — roughly two and a half times more room below than above.
That is what a token at the top of a vertical move looks like when the underlying float is thin and the buying that produced the move has been spent. It argues for defined-risk positioning rather than conviction sizing.
RSI From 31 Oversold to 68 Greed in Six Days
The momentum reversal has been as extreme as the price move, and it is now the strongest short-term caution signal available.
On August 18, the 14-day RSI read 37.53 — a neutral figure suggesting a market waiting for a catalyst before committing to direction. The weekly RSI, calculated on closed weekly candles, sat at 31.02, an outright oversold condition. Weekly momentum had dropped to levels last seen at the 2022 cycle bottom near $0.29.
Six sessions later, the Fear & Greed reading stands at 68 — Greed.
That is a 37-point sentiment swing inside a single week, from capitulation to euphoria, with no fundamental change to the escrow schedule, the ETF flow base or the legislative odds.
The 30-day statistics quantify how unusual the move is. Across the past thirty days, 50% of XRP trading days closed positive — an exactly neutral distribution. The 56% weekly advance therefore came from a handful of sessions rather than from sustained accumulation, which is the definition of a squeeze rather than a trend.
The constructive interpretation is that oversold weekly momentum resolving upward is precisely how multi-month bottoms form. A weekly RSI at 31 is a genuinely rare reading for XRP, and the last comparable print marked a cycle low. Markets that reverse from that condition often run further than the initial move suggests, because the positioning that has to unwind is substantial.
The cautionary interpretation is that a Greed reading of 68 at the top of a 56% week, with the same catalyst calendar and the same supply schedule, is a market that has repriced sentiment far faster than facts.
Both can be true. The resolution comes from flow: sustained ETF inflows validate the momentum shift, while a return to July's zero-print pattern confirms the squeeze reading.
August Is XRP's Flattest Month — and It Just Broke the Pattern
The seasonal record makes this month's move genuinely anomalous, and that is worth weighing.
August is the flattest month in XRP's entire history, averaging a return of just 0.43% — the only month on the table without a clear directional lean. It has also closed red four years running, the longest active losing streak any month carries.
XRP entered August at $1.06. It now trades at $1.51, up roughly 42% month-to-date with a week remaining.
Breaking the flattest and most consistently negative month in an asset's history by that margin is not a routine event. Seasonal patterns exist because they reflect recurring behaviour — summer liquidity, positioning cycles, the absence of catalysts. When a pattern that has held for four consecutive years breaks by 42%, the explanation is usually that something structural changed rather than that the pattern was noise.
What changed was not XRP-specific. It was the Treasury's decision to double long-end bond buybacks, which repriced the dollar, the yield curve and every asset positioned against fiat debasement simultaneously.
The published expectations coming into the month were for XRP to trade between $1.00 and $1.18 and finish near $1.10, with the bigger moves waiting on September's calendar. Model-based August forecasts clustered around $1.08 to $1.25, with the more optimistic scenarios topping out near $1.35. The token has cleared every one of those ranges.
The forward-looking consequence is that the September catalysts everyone was waiting for now arrive with the price already 42% higher. The Clarity Act vote no longer represents free upside from a depressed base — a meaningful portion of the passage scenario is already in the price.
That compresses the reward on a favourable outcome and widens the damage on an unfavourable one.
PCE Wednesday, Warsh Friday, Cloture September 15
The catalyst sequence over the next three weeks determines whether $1.51 becomes a base or a top.
Wednesday delivers the July Personal Consumption Expenditures price index and core PCE, alongside the second estimate of second-quarter GDP, July personal income and spending, and July durable goods orders. The Jackson Hole symposium opens Thursday, with the Fed Chair delivering his first keynote in the role on Friday at 15:00 BST.
Those two events control the macro leg entirely. XRP's 56% week began with a Treasury operation that pushed the 10-year yield to 4.708% and the dollar index to 98.723. If Friday's keynote reasserts a hawkish stance, the dollar recovers, yields rise, and every asset in the debasement basket gives back a portion of the move. XRP — with a 3-plus beta to the crypto complex and a 15% air pocket beneath $1.43 — would give back more than most.
A soft core PCE print Wednesday reinforces the easing case and keeps the bid intact through the weekend.
September 15 at 2:15 p.m. is the event that owns the medium term. Cloture on the Clarity Act requires 60 votes against 53 Republican seats. Passage would unlock an estimated $8 billion in XRP ETF inflows against $1.49 billion accumulated. Failure sends the token back to trading on Bitcoin's beta and the escrow schedule.
Prediction markets currently place a 63% probability on XRP holding above $1.50 through the near term, which is a market pricing consolidation rather than continuation.
One additional consideration: the joint regulatory classification issued in March 2026 already designated XRP a digital commodity outside securities law, alongside fifteen other assets. That means XRP's regulatory status is less dependent on the bill than most of the complex — the legislation would harden existing agency guidance into statute rather than create it.
Verdict and Price Forecast: $1.90 on a CLARITY Passage, $1.22 If It Fails
XRP at $1.51 has just produced its sharpest weekly advance since the SEC settlement, and the entire question is whether the flow arrives to defend it.
The bull case rests on five verifiable numbers. XRP surged more than 56% in a week from a base where weekly RSI printed 31.02 — an oversold reading last seen at the 2022 cycle bottom. Exchange supply sits at a seven-year low, which is why 15.59% single-day moves are possible on modest buying. Seven US spot ETFs are operational and hold nearly a billion tokens. Clarity Act passage is estimated to unlock approximately $8 billion of ETF inflows against $1.49 billion accumulated to date — a 5.4x expansion. And XRP has broken its flattest historical month, up 42% from an August open of $1.06 against forecasts calling for $1.10.
The bear case rests on four equally verifiable numbers. ETF cumulative inflows of $1.49 billion equal roughly 1.6% of a $94.98 billion market capitalization, against 4.85% for Ethereum — and the largest single day of this entire rally was $13 million. Flows registered exactly $0.00 on 10 of 17 July trading days. Net escrow releases of 200 to 400 million tokens monthly put roughly $453 million of new supply into the market every thirty days, more per quarter than the ETF complex has absorbed since launch. And Clarity passage odds have collapsed from 82% in February to roughly 25%.
The forecast: XRP holds $1.43 to $1.62 through Wednesday's PCE print. A close above $1.62 with ETF inflows sustaining above $20 million daily opens $1.72, and successful cloture on September 15 targets $1.90 — a 25.8% advance that would still leave XRP 48% below its cycle high.
Downside: a break of $1.43 opens the volume gap toward $1.22, a 19.2% decline, which is the last genuine support before $1.01. A failed September 15 vote makes that path the base case rather than the risk case.
The verdict is neutral-to-constructive with tight risk: hold above $1.43, target $1.90, invalidation at $1.22. This remains a token where the infrastructure is finished and the capital has not arrived, and September 15 is the only scheduled event large enough to change that.
