XAU/USD Price Action Under Pressure as Trade Optimism Builds
Gold’s quotation in the early European session slipped toward $3,335 per ounce, retracing nearly 2% from last week’s record peak of $3,500.05. The tentative removal of retaliatory levies by Beijing on select U.S. exports and upbeat commentary from Treasury officials sparked a modest US dollar rebound, diluting bullion’s appeal as a haven. The ICE U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) reclaimed ground above 99.20, nudging XAU/USD lower amid renewed confidence that tariffs may soon ease. Despite this retreat, bullion has managed to cling above the critical $3,300 threshold, a level that coincides with the 38.2% Fibonacci pullback of its most recent rally from the mid-$2,900s swing low.
